train on The Bluebell RailwayOn reaching Treemans Road, Horsted Keynes (OS ref: 381275), turn right. Walk on the road for about 750 metres, passing the entrance to Tremains Farm on the right (note the different spellings), until reaching a farm track on the left, marked Tremains Farm Cottages (just before the drive to Treemans Cottage and Stables on the right). Turn left into the farm track and then turn immediately right, walking along the hedge line, parallel with the road. At the field's far right corner, turn right down the bank to re-join the road. Turn left on the road and in about fifty metres, look for a footpath finger post on the left, and go steeply up the bank.

Turn right along the fence, and at the fence corner go left, with quarried clay pits on your left. Join a track and continue forward between the pits on your left and the edge of woods on your right. As the clay pits come to an end, turn right at the finger post, cross the footbridge and continue ahead, going over a broad crossing track.

The footpath then rises through trees, and where it joins another broad track, turn left onto the track. Follow this broad track until the edge of the wood and then continue on the same line over open ground, following the fence. Where the fence turns right, go right for a short distance on the sandy track, and look for a finger post on the left, indicating a grassy path to the road (OS ref: 389265).

At the road, turn left for eighty metres. Opposite Latchetts (OS ref: 390266) turn right into a track signed Longridge and Kidborough. In about 200 metres, where the track curves left, turn right into the field (footpath sign) and follow the right side of the field. Continue on the path through the wood.

At the end of the wood, ignore a path to the right, and keep straight ahead. In fifty metres go over a stile, and continue along the fence line, with a large house ahead of you. In 100 metres, go over a second stile and continue along the left side of the field until reaching the road. (OS ref.387255)

On reaching the road at the house (Town Place) turn right on the road, and immediately past the house cross the stile on the left into the field. Follow the hedge round to the left, behind the garden of Town Place. Where the garden perimeter turns sharp left again (footpath sign post) keep forward on cross-field path. (Note a railway bridge ahead of you, two fields away, as a landmark.) Descend the field to a stile in the far left corner. Go over the stile and cross the footbridge into the next field.

Continue ahead on a track along the right edge of the field. Just before the far right corner of the field, cross onto the bridge over the Bluebell Railway. Cross the bridge (the line to Sheffield Park to the left, to Horsted Keynes to the right), go over the stile and continue on the same line on a cross-field path (with a road seen directly ahead of you) to stile in the far right corner.

Cross two stiles and bear right to a gate and stile at the road (OS ref. 385247). Turn left on the road and continue the short distance to The Sloop public house (OS ref. 385243).
