| This walk crosses the River Avon several times and, indeed, the river provided the main cause for the building of the Causeway that this walk celebrates. | |
| Maud Heath is celebrated in an inscription on the side of this sundial, which stands alongside one of the Avon bridges (where the Causeway meets the river). The inscription reads "to the memory of the worthy Maud Heath of Langley Burrell, widow, who in the year of grace 1474 for the good of travellers did in charity bestow in land and houses about £8 a year forever to be laid out on the highways and causeway leading from Wick Hill to Chippenham Cliff" | |
| This towering monument looks out across a stunning view of the plain where the Causeway used to provide the only reliable all-season route. Maud, atop her monument, has her shopping basket beside her. |
